Crikey. You think you've got a monster desktop and then Dell announces the launch of their Studio XPS 7100 with an AMD Phenom II X6 six-core processor!
Aimed at hardcore gamers and computer enthusiasts, the six-core also known as hexa-core processor comes with a humongous 460-watt power supply which will support future upgrades to the CPU and AMD's ATI graphics processors. The system also supports up to 16GB of memory and is available with a 4TB hard drive. Alternatively, the system is also available with AMD's quad-core Athlon II chip.
Glen Robson, VP of Dell consumer product marketing, said in a statement "the Studio XPS 7100 desktop, in particular, delivers a nimble, clear, dependable experience for multitasking entertainment activities and multimedia creation". No kidding Glen.
A bit of background for you techies; the Vision brand itself was introduced during 2009 as a way for manufacturers using AMD chips to market consumer systems based on their capabilities instead of technical specifications. AMD introduced it's latest Vision Technology in the form of the AMD Phenom II for desktops and notebooks during April 2010.
The
Studio XPS 7100 with AMD six-core processor will be available to all of you lucky consumers as of Wednesday.
